Episode 52 – The Third Gacha

17 minutes

“I have 33 coins.” -Misuzu

“I’m at a loss as to how you keep finding them, as usual. But thanks to Rai often finding them for me, I have 26 coins.”  -Evie

I wonder if there’s a talent for finding gacha coins. If so, I definitely don’t have it.

“I have 9 coins this time.” -Yuuta

“There are 12 gacha coins found before solo actions, so it should be fine to leave all of these to Yuuta, right?” -Evie

“Yeah. Yuuta, go ahead without holding back. I have 33 coins this time after all.” -Misuzu

“So, as for how many of our gacha coins we let Yuuta use, I’ll give him 3 coins this time. I’d like to give more, but seeing Yuuta get quite strong with his personal equipment, you know. I want my own personal equipment to come out soon too. The fruits are attractive, but when it comes to personal equipment, just one coming out makes a clear difference in stats.” -Evie

“I don’t mind that, I think.” -Yuuta

I myself have enough gacha coins, and there’s no need to rapidly enhance my equipment any further. If anything, the difference in equipment between me and everyone else is starting to grow. As expected, there’s a huge difference in how well it suits you between purchased items and those obtained from gacha.

“I’ll give 10 coins to Yuuta, so please.” -Misuzu

And at Misuzu’s words, I paused for a moment. That gacha-crazed Misuzu said such a thing.

“Misuzu, you have a fever, don’t you? Why didn’t you say so?” -Evie

“You must be feeling so unwell you could die. Poor thing.” -Yuuta

I almost started to tear up. I had no idea Misuzu was pushing herself so hard. What an insensitive guy I am.

“N-No, that’s not it! I mean, I have a debt to Evie, and I want to pay that back soon too. That’s why I’m entrusting 10 coins to Yuuta. Get something good, okay?” -Misuzu

“Misuzu… Let me be clear, the money I’m lending isn’t with the intention of having it paid back, you know.” -Evie

“But you asked before about what to do with the debt.” -Misuzu

“O-Oh, that was, because you were trying to drive me away, wasn’t it?” -Evie

“I do feel bad about that… But I don’t want to owe Evie anything. I want us to be equals.” -Misuzu

Misuzu refused to budge in the end, saying that. If we weren’t going to fight about it, then I didn’t need to say any more and stayed silent.

Anyway, this time I’ll be using 34 coins for gacha – 9 for myself, 10 for Misuzu, 3 for Evie, and 12 for shared party use. And Evie has 23 coins while Misuzu also has 23.

“Exactly 800 pulls, huh.” -Yuuta

“Just pulling is going to be a lot of work.” -Misuzu

While chatting about such things, we entered the gacha zone. Misuzu and Evie took on the appearance of a couple in their 40s. I took on my appearance from before my charm increased. We decided to disguise ourselves like that in the gacha zone. Needless to say, we sent back Rai and Lean who would stand out.

Well, more importantly, once again there was no one else in the gacha zone. The Stone Area seems perpetually empty. Feeling relieved about that, we enter the gacha zone. A white space. In it were three Stone Gacha machines lined up.

“Doesn’t it look different from before?” -Misuzu

Misuzu tilted her head. Indeed, there were three gacha machines.

“Ah, this is probably because we have a lot of gacha coins.” -Yuuta

That said, it’s not so that the three of us can pull simultaneously. The gacha machines were lined up from right to left in large, medium, and small sizes, with the one on the right for 100 pulls, the middle for 10 pulls, and the left for single pulls. I had heard that when you enter with a large number of gacha coins, the gacha machines would be arranged like this.

“Somehow it feels like we’re gradually becoming veterans too.” -Misuzu

“Haha, we’re still rookies in a lot of ways though.” -Evie

After all, we still can’t even resolve the biggest source of conflict within the party, the relationships between men and women. And our fourth member still hasn’t arrived yet.

“Well, that’s certainly true. But Yuuta, we did manage to reach level 7. There should be very few people who have made it this far at age 15.” -Evie

“Then, is it okay if I go first as usual?” -Misuzu

“Yeah, go ahead Misuzu. I’m fine going last.” -Yuuta

“I’ll go second.” -Evie

As always, it was Misuzu’s turn first. It would be great if a rainbow capsule came out at this point, but I couldn’t imagine it would be that easy. In any case, it’s the most exciting moment for explorers. Regardless of the results, this determines an explorer’s income.

“Alright! Put in 10 coins!” -Misuzu

Misuzu inserted 10 coins into the gacha machine that could do 100 pulls at once.

“Gacha gods, please! Come, rainbow! Come, rainbow!” -Misuzu

Misuzu pulled with gusto. Then,

Rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle, a large number of white capsules came pouring out of the 100-pull gacha, with 1 or 2 copper-colored ones among them. And the rest were so many white capsules it was almost a bit nauseating. And how should I put it, the results came out blandly and quickly.

“…sob sob.” -Misuzu

Misuzu’s shoulders slumped as not a single silver capsule came out, and she stored the white capsules into her magic bag.

“Hehe, somehow my gacha seems like a food procurement gacha.” -Misuzu

In the previous gacha, several silver capsules came out, but this time there were none at all, and Misuzu was dejected. Or rather, she had a suspicious smile on her face. Misuzu seemed to be on the verge of breaking down. Getting such unlucky results for 100 pulls all at once must be quite a blow for the gacha-loving Misuzu.

“W-Well, you still have 130 more pulls!” -Yuuta

I offered some words of encouragement.

“Ugh, but I can only actually pull 4 more times…” -Misuzu

In any case, Misuzu inserted 10 more coins and pulled the gacha again. Then,

White capsules rattled out endlessly. Nothing else came out at all this time. It really didn’t come out. All 100 capsules were white.

“M-Misuzu, cheer up. These things happen.” -Evie

“That’s right. Someone once said, ‘It ain’t over till it’s over.’” -Yuuta

“I… I’ll leave the rest of the coins to Yuuta.” -Misuzu

Even Misuzu started saying such things. It seems she finally broke. Where did the energy of Misuzu, who had even taken my share at the very beginning, go? She became completely disheartened by the results of 200 pulls without even a single silver.

“You can’t do that.” -Yuuta

“But I’m not getting anything.” -Misuzu

Misuzu seemed unusually quite depressed. Perhaps she was really bothered by her own bad gacha luck. Well, her gacha luck is 1 after all.

Since I’m a big fan of Tanaka, I even thought Misuzu’s gacha luck was enviable, but normally gacha luck 1 is said to be so low that not even party members will show up.

“Misuzu, don’t you want to get a rainbow?” -Yuuta

I put my hand on Misuzu’s shoulder and asked gently.

“It won’t come out anyway, so I might as well not cause trouble for Yuuta.” -Misuzu

“You knew from the start that your gacha luck was bad, didn’t you? Don’t you want to become one of the Twelve Heroes?” -Yuuta

“I do, but… I’m starting to think it might be better to leave it to Yuuta for that too.” -Misuzu

“But you want to become like Foreign, don’t you? Then you can’t give up.” -Yuuta

“Yuuta…” -Misuzu

“Your gacha luck is probably 4d8【1based on this. Otherwise, there’s no way you’d get all white for 100 pulls, no matter what. In other words, you need to pull the gacha 4096 times for a rainbow to come out. Are you giving up before even doing 1000 pulls?” -Yuuta

“But if Yuuta pulls, that might be made up for with fruits. That would be 100% then.” -Misuzu

“If you’re aiming for low or mid-level, then that’s fine. But the goal is level 1000. Misuzu, you know it’s said that ‘already 10 billion people worldwide have entered the dungeon,’ right?” -Yuuta

It’s something taught in school. And more than half of them are said to have died.

“Yeah.” -Misuzu

“Even so, only 12 people have reached level 1000 or higher. They said it would increase exponentially, but there’s no sign of that at all. Far from it, not a single person at level 900 has been added to the top 1000 ranking. The number of high-level explorers above level 500 has also suddenly decreased compared to before. But below that, it’s increasing exponentially. Why do you think that is?” -Yuuta

“I don’t know, but why?” -Misuzu

“It must be because the fear of the dungeon has become widely known, and everyone can only do what’s bound by common sense now. Up to level 500, that common sense approach probably works well. But beyond that, it’s probably impossible if you’re bound by common sense. Kain challenged the dungeon all alone and reached level 1000.” -Yuuta

“That’s because he’s a summoner.” -Misuzu

“I’m sure those words you’re saying, Misuzu, are common sense. That’s why I have no intention of doing that.” -Yuuta

“But if I was really D rank, I’m sure no one would have let me join their party. Anyone other than Yuuta would have definitely rejected me the moment they saw my stats.” -Misuzu

“That’s why you met me, Misuzu.” -Yuuta

“…Yuuta.” -Misuzu

“Misuzu! Let’s do our best and pull the gacha!” -Yuuta

“Yeah! Yuuta! I’ll do my best!” -Misuzu

Evie’s face twitched as if to say, just hurry up and pull already. I put my arm around Misuzu’s shoulder and had her face the gacha again. And Misuzu pulled the 10-pull gacha 3 times.

As a result,

“N-No rainbow at all… Where’s my rainbow angel?” -Misuzu

Misuzu slumped in dejection. I’ve lost count of how many times her back has become sooty. It’s pitiful, but reality is harsh. 4 copper capsules came out. There were no silver or gold capsules, and the breakdown was 2 sets of 10 regular arrows from the copper capsules. 1 MP potion. 1 SP potion.

“Well, it’s not a bad result for your gacha luck.” -Yuuta

“Even copper is 1 in 64, silver is 1 in 512… I wonder how I got so many silvers before.” -Misuzu

“Then it’s my turn next. This time I’ll get gold too.” -Evie

Evie also took on the gacha with determination. And then,

White capsules kept pouring out endlessly. It seemed like Evie’s 100-pull gacha would also only yield white capsules. Evie’s gacha luck is also 2, so the probability of getting gold is extremely low. However,

“N-No gold… Where’s my gold angel?” -Evie

As expected, nothing came out. And out of 230 pulls, there wasn’t a single gold. It was a sad reality. They both said the exact same thing. Evie is also really weak at gacha. Despite having considerably better gacha luck than Misuzu, the results weren’t much different.

“Probabilistically, we should be getting gold at least once by now…” -Yuuta

Evie got 2 silver capsules with a magic circle of 【Fire Arrow Formation】. One 1 million yen potion. 10 copper capsules with two magic circles of 【Fire Ball】. Two 100,000 yen potions. 5 MP recovery potions. One high-grade steak.

The rest were all daily necessities and ordinary food and drinking water, including Misuzu’s. These white capsules are in large quantities and will be sold at the dungeon shop. They can be preserved almost indefinitely, so each one sells for 1,000 to 5,000 yen.

“I feel like this is the only moment Misuzu and I can get along.” -Evie

“Me too.” -Misuzu

They said such things and comforted each other.

Anyway, it was my turn.

“Sigh, putting aside my own lack of gacha luck, I wonder if Yuuta will complete his equipment this time.” -Evie

“I think so too. If Yuuta does 340 gacha pulls, it’s going to be amazing.” -Misuzu

“I-I’ll do my best.” -Yuuta

Being told that puts quite a bit of pressure, but still, my gacha luck is 5. No matter how much pressure they put on me, it’s a gacha where things come out based on probability.

I inserted 10 coins. I gripped the dial of the 100-pull gacha. It had more resistance than the single-pull gacha. I turned it with force. Then, among the white capsules that came rattling out, I could clearly see several copper, silver, and gold ones. The result of the first 100 gacha pulls was,

“5 gold capsules. 8 silver capsules. 16 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“Keep pulling like that.” -Misuzu

Next was,

“8 gold capsules. 9 silver capsules. 13 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“Hey Evie. I really don’t think we need to pull the gacha anymore.” -Misuzu

“Somehow I’m starting to feel the same way.” -Evie

And next was,

“4 gold capsules. 8 silver capsules. 17 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“Only 4 gold ones, huh. Not very good.” -Misuzu

“I’d like to see at least 6 come out.” -Evie

And I pulled 10 at a time 4 times.

“1 gold capsule. 2 silver capsules. 3 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“Hmm, not bad.” -Misuzu

“Next is 2 gold capsules. 1 silver capsule. 0 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“2 gold capsules came out even without copper capsules.” -Evie

“In Japanese, okay?” -Yuuta

“Next is 0 gold capsules. 0 silver capsules. 2 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“No gold capsules, what’s wrong Yuuta?” -Evie

“I’m sure Yuuta must have a fever.” -Misuzu

“Last is 0 gold capsules. 2 silver capsules. 1 copper capsule.” -Yuuta

“So this happens even to Yuuta.” -Misuzu

“It really does. In total, 20 gold capsules. 30 silver capsules. 45 copper capsules.” -Yuuta

“Yeah. I’m starting to feel like just Yuuta is enough.” -Misuzu

“What a coincidence. Me too.” -Evie

“…” -Yuuta

I couldn’t say anything. Somehow, I was starting to feel the same way.

The results of my gold capsules were 1 Mikamaru headband. 1 pair of gauntlets. 4 potions worth 10 million yen. 6 jewels that can also be used as synthesis materials. 2 lava magic circles. 2 fruits of defense. 1 fruit of SP. 1 fruit of strength. 2 fruits of agility.

“But Yuuta. The results are unexpectedly biased. And this is…” -Evie

“Yeah. Well, it’s fine that no more personal equipment came out since dungeon restrictions will apply anyway. But it seems only the fruits I need come out.” -Yuuta

“That’s right. I want to be able to say even once that I don’t need any more personal equipment.” -Misuzu

“Misuzu. We’re not allowed such luxury.” -Evie

From the silver capsules, there were 4【Stone Explosion】 magic circle scrolls. 5 unnamed swords. 7 potions worth 1 million yen. 7 other unnamed pieces of equipment. 7 sets of 10 energy boosters.

“Energy boosters…” -Yuuta

I wonder what that means. I don’t think it came out for the others, but I felt like the dungeon was clearly telling me to do it.

Anyway, from the copper capsules, there were 10 sheets of 【Rock Bullet】 magic circles. 15 potions worth 100,000 yen. 12 MP potions. 8 SP potions. That was the breakdown.

“So with this, Yuuta got 2 more pieces of the Mikamaru series.” -Misuzu

“I wonder if the same personal equipment ever comes out?” -Evie

“That doesn’t happen, apparently. Each piece of personal equipment is unique in the world. That’s how it works. But even if a gold capsule comes out, personal equipment still only comes out from there about 1/6 of the time, so even with gacha luck 5, it doesn’t get completed that quickly.” -Yuuta

“So it’s not enough to just get a gold capsule. I feel even less like I can complete a set. Misuzu just needs one rainbow to come out, so honestly I’m envious of that. So, Yuuta. How much of a buff do you get with this?” -Evie

“There don’t seem to be many people who can complete a set, so I couldn’t find any reference sites, but let me check.” -Yuuta

I equipped the Mikamaru series headband and gauntlets. When I put on the red headband, strangely, I got the feeling that my whole head was being protected. And when I equipped the gauntlets, I felt like my whole arm was being protected.

Quest: Floor 2 S Rating

“2-22… A-Amazing.”  -Evie

“Isn’t that like gaining the value of going up about 4 levels? I wonder if it will add around 100 if you collect all 10 pieces?” -Misuzu

“There will of course be dungeon restrictions during quests, but there’s no doubt it will be quite advantageous.” -Yuuta

“And Yuuta’s stats have gone up considerably with the S rating.” -Evie

“+6, huh. You get +5 even with normal quest rewards, so agility is already at 57. If you equip all the personal equipment, it would be 79… That surpasses Rai who specializes in mobility. Looking at this, it really makes me think I wanted an S rating after all. If we had even one piece of personal equipment, maybe we could have gotten an S rating too.” -Yuuta

“Yuuta. There aren’t many people who can collect the remaining 6 pieces, right?” -Misuzu

“Seems that way. I heard that high-level explorers who want to collect them pull from the Stone Gacha after raising their gacha luck.” -Yuuta

Of course, there’s no point in doing that. Equipment gets updated every 10 floors, and the lower you go, the more meaningless the equipment from upper floors becomes. Above all, if you do something like that, restrictions kick in from the dungeon’s side, and gacha coin drops get really bad, so it’s a huge waste of time even for high-level explorers.

But perhaps it’s the same psychology as wanting to splurge when you become an adult – apparently they really want to complete the series.

Thanks to those people pulling the gacha like it might break, they sell the excessively discharged no-name items. So people like Misuzu with no gacha luck can somehow collect equipment, albeit no-name ones.

“But even looking at Yuuta’s results, it seems unreasonable to make up for my stats with fruits.” -Evie

“Yeah. Honestly, that’s true.” -Yuuta

I nodded in agreement.

“The stats Yuuta and I need are different. MP and magic power fruits didn’t come out in Yuuta’s gacha results.” -Evie

Unfortunately, that was true. The gacha doesn’t provide things other than what the person pulling needs. So the results of this gacha were all things necessary to make me stronger.

“It really isn’t straightforward. Yuuta, if you’re going to abandon me, do it now.” -Evie

“I’d rather quit being an explorer than do that. I want to reach level 1000 together with Misuzu and Evie. If you two aren’t with me, I’m fine with giving up on that dream. That’s how much I… you two.” -Yuuta

I wanted to continue with “love,” but I swallowed those words. I felt like even the dungeon was fed up with my indecisiveness again.

Anyway, we didn’t want to stay in the gacha zone for too long, so we went outside and got in the limousine driven by David and the others who came to pick us up after getting some distance away. Then Evie used her tablet to connect to the internet and started calculating our earnings.

I have been thinking about this for a while but… why do the girls has underwear listed in their equipments but the boy is not? Is he going commando or something? Author-san, get your mind out of gutter, this is too inconsistent!
