Episode 39: Part 2 – Side Yuuta – Destroying Evidence

6 minutes

“Why did Ikemoto-kun enter the dungeon alone even though there’s the Dungeon High School? Even now, there are still cases of 15-year-old boys and girls entering the dungeon and never coming back. Dr. Nakagaki, a psychiatrist well-versed in the psychology of middle school students, what do you think?”

“This kind of thing will never be reduced to zero. During puberty, you just can’t help but-“

Click.

The TV screen I was watching turned off.

“I told you not to worry about it. One idiot has left the world stage, and that’s good. Isn’t that enough?” -Evie

Evie snuggled up to me as I sat up in bed. I was impressed by my own self-control for not taking things further in my mental state yesterday. I should praise myself for still having only kissed her so far.

But there was no doubt it would be bad if Misuzu found out.

Looking at the clock, it was just past 4 am.

I had set my smartphone alarm to 4, and it had beeped a little while ago.

For now, I turned on the TV and right away the news about Ikemoto was being reported as breaking news. It seemed Sakaki-san had notified them. But the police won’t do anything at all when it comes to the dungeon. Still, the media moves.

When they hear from the police that a 15-year-old has gone missing in the dungeon, they rush into their home right away.

“Your child has almost certainly died, but how do you feel right now?”

They go and ask without reserve.

“His mom was crying while answering the interview.” -Yuuta

“That’s unfortunate, but he entered of his own will, so it can’t be helped.” -Evie

“You’re right.” -Yuuta

I wonder if this counts as morning chunk. I feel terribly sorry towards Misuzu. I try to think about Ikemoto, but I can’t help but be distracted by Evie’s body in front of me. I somehow convinced her to put on clothes, but they’re see-through. Why does she even have clothes like this?

“You’re still not feeling better. Wait just a moment.” -Evie

Evie slipped back under the covers again.

“H-hey, what are you doing?” -Yuuta

“We’ll be in the dungeon for a while. With Misuzu around, we can’t do it boldly, so it’s better to get properly refreshed now while we can.” -Evie

“What?” -Yuuta

“I love you.” -Evie

“Stop it, you idiot, calm down!” -Yuuta

As a man, I somehow managed to protect my chastity and put myself in order. Evie looked dissatisfied, wondering why I was refusing. I couldn’t completely get rid of Evie’s scent on my body, but I gave up, thinking it couldn’t be helped.

“Hey there, boss. Looks like you had a rough time getting dragged around by our princess yesterday.” -David

After Evie and I finished checking our equipment, we got into the limousine driven by David and the others. We were finally heading back to the dungeon.

“You’re wrong, David. I got to hold a top-class woman in my arms. This is what you call enviable.” -Yuuta

“True that. Then let me give you, lucky boy, a piece of advice. If your shampoo is the same as Evie’s, Misuzu will notice your cheating.” -David

David’s warning struck a chord with me. I was worried about that too, but I guess it really is no good. But what can I do about it now? Then Mark tossed something to me from the passenger seat.

“Use this. It’s a top-notch cologne that exudes a manly scent.” -Mark

“T-Thank you. Um, about while we’re away…” -Yuuta

“I know. We should look out for Imari too, right?” -David

“You can rest assured. Unlike Yuuta, we’re loyal to our current woman.” -David

Being alone while we’re away would surely be lonely and worrying. David and the others said they would enter the dungeon every 3 days or so this time to resupply us. Evie apparently hadn’t wanted that much, but they offered on their own.

In that case, I had asked them to inform Imari of our current situation on those occasions.

“Are you really going to put that on?”  -Evie

I was about to spray the cologne Mark gave me on my neck.

“Is it no good?” -Yuuta

“You’d better not. Instead of smelling like me, you’ll end up smelling intensely like Mark.” -Evie

Smell like Mark? The smell of the blond, macho Mark would come from my body? What does that mean?

“Huh?!” -Yuuta

The moment I realized it, the two in the front seat burst out laughing.

“Hey hey! You had a good time with me yesterday, didn’t you?! I love you, Yuuta!” -Mark

“Stop it, Mark! I’m gonna crash from laughing too much!” -David

“Hey hey! Want me to give you some medicine that works on your ass too?!” -Mark

I realized they were thoroughly making fun of me.

“Geez. Mark! Don’t tease my Yuuta!” -Evie

“It’s fine, Evie. It’s all my fault.” -Yuuta

I spoke in a deathly gloomy voice. My mood sank. What the heck am I doing, sleeping with Imari, going on a date with Misuzu, and having a sleepover with Evie? It all feels really good, but is this okay?

Nagumo-san had casually said something like “It’s fine, isn’t it?”, but is it normal in the world of explorers? They didn’t teach us it was bad in school either. So is it okay? Huh? Is it okay?

“Hey hey, Japanese people are so serious.” -David

“It’s a joke. Who gets depressed when they’re popular?” -Mark

I responded seriously to their cheerful jokes. That made the atmosphere in the car a bit awkward.

“Yuuta, we’ll arrive about an hour early, so go ahead into the dungeon and kill some goblins in close combat. It’ll help you feel refreshed about Ikemoto too, and you won’t mind the smell once you’re covered in goblin blood.” -Evie

“T-Thanks, Evie. I’ll do that.” -Yuuta

I feel like I might seriously fall in love with the kind Evie.

While talking about such things, they dropped me off quite a ways before the dungeon. After Evie transformed into the appearance of a Japanese woman in her 40s, she headed to the dungeon shop alone.

I entered the dungeon. I ran straight to the stairs to the 2nd floor like this. The plan was for Evie to chase after me together with Misuzu. I probably had about an hour until then, so I had to get rid of the smell from yesterday’s activities by then.

No, we didn’t actually go that far though.

Still, why are all three of them so welcoming?

Can I freely do it with all three of them if I just make up my mind?

No, that’s not the issue… Why am I so popular in the first place?

That was still the thing I understood the least.
